Hi,
We have an issue relating to the Ordinary depreciation start date and capitalization date.
In the asset master Capitalization date and Ordianry depreciation start date is on Nov 2006. This asset has been uploaded in SAP on Oct 2010. Depreciation has been calculated from the Nov 2010 to May 2011. Now the business found that the depreciation start date should be from sep 2006.
How can I change the Capitalization date and Ordianary dep start date in the asset master?
Financial year is from Jan to Dec and Fiscal year 2010 has already been closed. Is it possible to change the dates in the asset master. If so what are all the implications? Please help me.
Advance thanks.
Regards
Jay
Dear:
Changing asset capitalization date can have impact of reporting . it can also have impact on the depreciation calculation. Refer to OSS note 50970. However you can manually change the capitalization date by doing some configuration only if its in display mode in AS02 . please FOLLOW
Go to IMG > Asset Accounting > Master data > Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data
Under "Posting Information", make Capitalization Date as "Optional" instead of "Display"
Use AFAR is used to recalculate depreciation values (planned values) whenever there is a change in depreciation due to change of depreciation key or useful life. In your case you will have to rectify asset values and then run T-code AFAR so that correct depreciation amount is calculated. However this t code should ideally be run before financial year end closing. This will recalculate the planned depreciation values which will be re-posted with with AFAB.
