Kernel upgrade shows SP Level 32 instead of Level 137

I downloaded the kernel exe and exedb files (level 137) as a part of

the Support Pack Stack 9 from maintenance optimizer.Our current level

of Kernel was 69 and the defined level in SP Stack 9 was 137. As a part

of the installation work, I extracted these files, stopped the sap

services, backed up the exe folder and overwrote the files in the

usr/sap/.../exe folder with the extracted files. When I restarted the

services, and logged on to the SAP gui and checked the Kernel

level, it shows level 32 which is very odd. I am not sure why is it

showing the downgraded version instead of the new version 137. I double checkd in the download area and confirmed that I

selected the correct platform and database for download. I believe that kernel upgarde is cumulative. I am wondering if I this is not the error or just a glitch and it might show the correct version after I upgrade ABAP/BASIS support pack. I will greately appreciate your any thoughts?

Thanks

Hi,

Not sure which transaction code you used to check the kernal patch number?

Please use SM51 and clieck release notes, here you will get the kernel patch number.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I cheked the version using sm51->release notes. It displays the folloing info:

SAP Kernel:701_REL

Database Client Lib:SQL_Seever_8.0

created in:NT 5.2 3790 Service Pack 1 x86 MS VC++ 14.00

created on: Feb 24 2009

Support Level:0

Kernel Patch Number: 32

Source ID: 0.032

DBSL Patch no:031

ICU Version 3 Unicode ver 4.0.1

........

Interestingly DBSL patch number and kernel patch number showing different version as well.

Hi Arjun,

To me it looks like old kernel has been applied on the system.

Created dated is "created on: Feb 24 2009" which means old kernel has been uploaded into the system.

I suggest extract the kernel for latest patch again executed R3trans -v command from that folder (you may need to give complete path).

And then execute the same command exe folder and compare the result.

Thanks for your response again.

Here is my download info for the new kernel with date:

My Download Link->

SAP KERNEL 7.01 64-BIT UNICODE -> Windows Server on x64 64bit -> #Database independent

The EXE file that I downloaded for kernel upgrade:

SAR SAPEXE_137-10005992.SAR Kernel Part I (for Basis 7.01) 137 Info 207872 25.05.2011

Previous Kernel file Info found in the same download area which confirms that I am in the right area for download:

SAR SAPEXE_69-10005992.SAR Kernel Part I (for Basis 7.01) 69 Info 199677 04.02.2010

Datewise they look ok. I am going to try to download one more time and see what happens.

Thanks

Arjun

I copied the extracted files to E:\usr\sap\SBX\DVEBMGS00\exe folder.

This is the wrong directory. You have to copy it on E:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD4\run. sapcpe fle will copy all the binaries to the directory automatically on which you extracted. Do it once again and check with disp+work once again.
