SAP EHP5 installation error -Unknown parameter diagnostic_dest

Hi All,

I am trying to install new system in below environment

1. OS - Win 2003 64Bit EE

2. SAP - ECC 6 with EHP5

3. DB - Oracle 10g

I am getting the error as shown below at the step of create database.

Error message: ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters LRM-00101: unknown parameter name 'diagnostic_dest' Disconnected

As I searched on net as well as in OTN forums, I found this parameter is newly introduced in 11g with the replacement of following parameter of 10g

- background_dump_dest

- user_dump_dest

- core_dump_dest

Now I am not able to proceed ahead because of this error. I couldnt find init<SID>.ora file to mention this parameter.

Please provide me your expert suggestions.

The parameter diagnostic_dest is only valid for oracle 11 g.

But you mentioned that you are using oracle 10g? The init file should be under <drive>\oracle\<SID>\10*\database

HI Sunil,

That's what I was wondering? Why oracle giving this error when its not related to 10g.

Also SAP PAM shows EHP5 supports / get install on 10g. I followed every step of DB installation that mentioned in installation guide before I start sapinst.

I am planning to do it now with Oracle 11g. I started downloading. Lets hope for a better.

Installation completed successfully after installing Oracle 11g.
