Regarding Re-organizing ST22

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I want to re-organize ST22 and want to change the keep days to 8 (right now it is 0)

Before changing that I want to know more about the impacted tables

Moreover , I had some queries on the program RSSNAPDL .

In our system , the SNAP table can hold a max of 2000000 and Max. delete at once =1000

Whenever I check the SAP_REORG_JOBS in our system . It usually deletes more than 1000 entries .

I couldn't able to catch the logic behind the program RSSNAPDL (Which uses the default variant of sap)

Could you guys explain me in detail ?

Thanks in Advance

Regards

Sandeep

Hello Gurus ,

Please help me out ...

In our production system , ST22 holds only last 24 hrs dumps. I couldn't see last few days dumps.

When I checked the program RSSNAPDL .

We have a scheduled job which runs with prog. RSSNAPDL everyday with variant "DEFAULT".

when I checked the variant. I found the following things

1000 Max. entries to be kept P 100,000

1000 Entries which can be deleted P 500

1000 Storage Date P 28

But when I checked the joblog of the job , I found that the job is deleting last days dumps

FYI :

Here , My quesyions are

1).If it needs to delete a max of 500 entries at once. Why I could see entries with more than 500 entries deleted almost all the time

2).If the keep parameter is set to 28 .

It should not delete the last old 28 days dumps.

In my case , the job is deleting the previous days dumps as well .

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong

Thanks All in Advance

Have you checked this note:

The SNAP is also automatically reorganized. With each short dump that occurs in the dialog box (the dump is displayed as soon as it occurs), a maximum of 20 short dumps are deleted from the SNAP that are older than 7 days. In normal production operation this reorganization should be sufficient.

Run a reorg on this table .. i think this should be ok .. instead of running the background job ..

Hi All,

Thanks for the responses

@SM : Thanks for your note .. but my SAP_BASIS version is 701 ( good stuff in the note)

The problem in our system is daily there around 600-900 dumps and it fiils around 100000 entries in SNAP.

As my SNAPMAX is 100000 , It removes all previous days dumps.

So , I hope increasing this parameter to some extend will work for us.

Thank again
