CHARM: Impact of satelite system copy from production to QA

Hi Guys,

Does anyone konw the procedure for system copy when this system is controled by ChaRM?

If we have some processes in course but a system copy must be made, what will happen to these Change Request Processes?

Let's say that we have an SDHF document in status sucessfully tested in our SAP ECC System. With the system copy from production to test of this ECC, changes that were passed to QA are not there, and SDHF has an invalid status.

What should we do for all cases with similar status (to be tested, sucessfully tested, authorized to production)?

Best regards,

Renato Petrulis

The great blog by Dolores mentions a few points in item 20 of http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/15116. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] My own two cents on this kind of situation is this: ChaRM is not that flexible once things get out of synch: it is very hard to make it agree with reality. It is easier to make reality agree with ChaRM So one approach would be, after the system copy, to re-import the missing transports into QA (by using the TMS History to add the transports back into the QA queue and manually reimport). It might also be a good policy to coordinate the timing of your system copy with the maintenance cycle so that the copy to QA comes soon after the MaCy go-live.

Dear Jon,

your post is dated some years back but I hope you're still in the business!

Since you've mentioned Dolores Blog comment #20 about copying a sattelite system I figure you're familiar with the topic.

We control our Landscape DEV>QAS>PRD with Solution Manager ChaRM and want to update our sattelite QAS by copying PRD to QAS.

Prior to the System Copy we had a Maintenance Go-Live.

Our Maintenance as well as our Implementation Project have already been set to Dev WITH Release at some point. and therefore include Changes which already have or have already had status TO BE TESTED.

what we want to achieve is, that afert copying PRD to QAS we want to have all Transport of Copies in the "new" QAS as they were before the copy.

Do you have any advice how to select those correctly by using /n/tmwflow/trmo?

Is there a best practice way to re-import this selection manually?

Thanks for all further advice

Best regards
