What is OTVSN?

We are changing from a combined IDOC generation (Master Data and Payroll) to running Master Data IDOCs followed subsequently by Payroll IDOCs.

For the combined process, we were running RPCEPYU0_COMBINED_CALL and our OTVSN setting was "CM".

Now we want to run:

RPCEMDU0_CALL to create Master Data IDOCS

separately from

RPCEPYU0_CALL to create Payroll IDOCS

However apparently we need to change our OTVSN setting to MD to create Master Data IDOCs and to PY to create Payroll IDOCs.

Is this correct? If so, that means we have to transport the OTVSN setting to production to change between the Master Data IDOC creation and the Payroll IDOC Creation. That just seems a little strange to me.

I just need to run the right program, in this case it was RPCEMDU0_COMBINED_CALL for master data creation with CM setting.
