Meter removal date the same as estimated reading

Former Member

meter removal date is the same as date of estiamated reading, but readings are not the same. system does not take into account removal reading (22)

Example:

meter (XXX) reason 22 RR 01 date 20.01.2011 reading 1000

meter (XXX) reason 01 RR 03 date 20.01.2011 reeading 900

difference on reading 1000-900 = 100 is never billed.

is this contoled on custo?

where?

Hi,

Meter removal reading does not create a billable billing order. So it will be taken into consideration for billing when you will be entering the next billable meter reading order.

If the property is a metered property, then you need to install a new meter on 21.01.2011. After few days / months you will be entering a periodic / interim meter for the new meter. Then SAP will consider the consumption of the old meter for billing.

The total consumption for billing will be the sum of old meter consumption + new meter consumption.

Where old meter consumption will be (1000- 900) = 100

And new meter consumption will be ( Schedule periodic reading / interim reading - meter reading during meter installation).

Hope it clarifies.

Thanks.

Thanks for reply, the problem I have is that meter replacement is done in batch process with developed program and if there was estimated reading for 20.01 system allows to do replacement for 21.01 (and reading of removal 22 is introduced on 20.01) so on the next bill change of meter change is not shown.

Probably will need to develop validation on the program, because there is no way to not let system do replacement on 20.01 by customizing?

Hi,

In the billing run SAP will consider both the consumptions of old meter and new meter. You will also be getting all these meter reading related information in the bill document line items.

In practical if a meter reading is entered on a particular date (example 20.01.2011) whether it is actual or estimated, meter removal / replacement can happen on the next date. You should not stop the meter replacement on the next date because it may create some issue if it is actually happening. Then you will not be able to enter meter removal in the system on the actual removal date.

You can change your bill printing logic where you can print all the readings of old and new meters from the bill / print document line items. So customer will understand the consumption details after seeing their bill.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, you need to add validation in your program to handle this issue.

Alternatively, you can introduce a logic in your meter replacement program (which gets execute as batch program) to check existing reads (not only estimated, but actual too). If program finds any reads on that date, then it can update existing meter readings with new meter reading value. In your case, 900 will become 1000.
