Hi gurus.

1.Whats is the use of CU41-Configuration profile?

2.In Variant Configuration from SD side which process need to be used?iePlanned/Production order,Sales Order,Order BOM?

3.BOM explosion should be single level or multiple level?

Go through the following, hope it helps:

Variant Configuration

Step1: First of all create a material with material type KMAT in MM01

Step 2: Creating a characteristics for color ZCOLOUR using T.Code CT04

1- Tab: Basic Data

2- Tab: Descriptions

3- Tab: Values

Maintain the color required for the order

Step 3: Creating a characteristics for CC ZCC using T.Code CT04

1- Tab: Basic Data

3- Tab: Values

Step 4: Creating class ZBIKE with Class Type: 300-Variants using T. Code CL01

Step 5: Assigning Characteristics ZCOLOUR and ZCC to Class ZBIKE

Step 6: Creating Profile ZBIKEPROF for the material with Class Type using T Code CU41

Step 7: Click on tab Class Assignments and maintain class ZBIKE in Assignments Tab

and its values will appear below in General Tab

Step8: Now create Sales Order

While creating the sales order when we enter the material in item we will be directed to following screen:

When we press F4 placing the cursor on Colour Char we will get the following options to choose from which we had maintained earlier in characteristics ZCOLOUR

Similarly while placing the cursor on CC Char and pressing F4 we will get following screen which we had maintained in Characteristics ZCC

Once you select your options the following screen will appear:

Now click on tab which is for next screen.

Maintain the rest entries and save the sales order.

Step 9: Once you save the sales order and go to delivery using T Code VL01N entering the delivery quantity and click on picking tab system will show following error:

That means that the stock does not exist in the plant for the specified material.

Since the material type is KMAT we need to maintain its stock in the plant as special stock.

Step 10: Use T Code MB1C to post the stock in the plant, choose movement type: 561 and special stock indicator: E to post the stock for the sales order as shown below:

Step 11: Maintain the required entries to post the stock in the plant like material, material quantity, material quantity, storage location and post the stock

Confirmation message comes as:

Step 12: Now create delivery using T Code VL01N once picking the material do Post Goods Issue message will be reflected as

Complete the billing process accordingly.

Hi Amol,

Just to add up,

It all depends on the business requirement of what profile needs to be used. In general planned/production is used in MTO scenario where finished goods is going to be produced Eg Bike . SET is used if the components of finished product can also be sold separetly Eg PC - CPU and a monitor can also be configured and sold separately. Order boms are not manufactured related but engineering related. Techincally a different Sales order BOM is created which can be changed later.

BOM explosion again depends on what you want. If you want the BOM components to be configurable in the sales order then the header bom profile should be set to multiple level.
