Loading data from flat file to infoobject

HI. Iam trying to load data from flat file to Infoobject. I created Infosource and the dataflow is good. I selected the option

"INSERT CHARACTERISTIC AS DATA TARGET" option and then when creating update rule for my characteristic text infoprovider

it wont let me create.It says "Enter a Valid function" at the bottum.Where Iam i going wrong?Thanks.

Hi Srini,

First make sure that you are able to see your infoobject in Infoprovider i.e Select Infoprovider in the left pane & then find you IO using Find option. If it is present here, then you should be able to create update rules for the same. If not Make sure you activated the IO after making it as Infoprovider (INSERT CHARACTERISTIC AS DATA TARGET) & you should also mention some Infoarea for it & actiavte the same.

Thanks guys i got the problem solved i actually did not proceed correctly.I started with a whole new thing and it works fine now.

Did you create Infosource with Flexible updating or Direct updating?

you will be allowed to create update rules only if you had defined your infosource with Flexible updating.

If it is direct updating then there is no need to create update rules.
