Multiple Livecaches / Upgrade

Hello,

we have two livecaches (7.5) on the same machine. One of them we have to upgrade to 7.7.

Yes, I know, I can have two different releases on one host. But as far as I remember during the upgrade process I have to restart both (because of x_server, dbmrfc etc)...

Is that still right?

Thanks

Jan

Hello Jan,

please review the SAP note 998966 on additional information.

Before to run the liveCache update , it's recommended to stop x_server, application server, if it's running on the same server

as liveCache.

If you have additional questions on this topic => I recommend you to create the SAP message.

Do you have problems to find the downtime interval for both database instances?

Hi,

thanks for the answer.

It's a bit tricky.

The prod and dev system are on the same server.

So we need a downtime for prod, too.

So we decided to move the dev on a new machine. But the new machine uses LPAR/WPAR technology (AIX), and tahts not supported for Livecache 7.5 and so the installation of the software aborts.

ERROR 2011-06-07 15:10:22 [syxxcfsmut.cpp:182]

CSyFSMountUtils::getMountPointForNode()

FSL-02015 Node /sapdb/OOT/saplog does not exist.

So we have two alternatives.

Downtime of prod or using temporaray an 'old' machnie for the LC.

Best regards

Jan

Hello,

please review the SAP Note No. 720261.

Please update with additional information:

A) old machine:

sdbregview -l

dbmcli db_enum

dbmcli inst_enum

uname -a

B) new machine:

uname -a

df -k /sapdb/OOT/saplog

mount | grep <FS of /sapdb/OOT/saplog>

Hello Natalia,

thanks for your help.

Antoher Workaround can be to mount the Filesystems on the WPAR, not on the LPAR.
