Copy data from BW 3.5 to BI 7

Hi all,

I would like to know if it is possible to do a system copy (but just the data) from a BW 3.5 system to a BI 7?

The BI 7 is a system that is the upgraded version of the BW 3.5 one.

No, this is not possible.

You have to build dataflows between your 2 systems to be able to transfer the data.

If you need to upgrade BW then should go for migration/upgradation, its a kind of implimentation project...

Yes I did some dataloads cube by cube from BW 3.5 to BI 7. I was just wondering if it was possible to do a "massive copy" instead of a "cube by cube"?

when you do an upgrade from 3.5 to bi7, all remains the same. if you want to use BI7 functionalities for loading data, you need to migrate existing flows or create new flows. however, the cube itself does not change. hence you don't need to put data from a 3.5 to a bi7...

THe BW 3.5 system is the actual production system and is loaded daily. The new BI 7 system has missed some loads, that's why I would like to know if a data copy is feasible..

So are you using two production systems (one BW3.5 and other BW 7) at the same time? But Why?
