BI Content installation in systems

Hi All

To confirm, do we need to install BI_CONT in SAP source system and SAP BI system as well, or do we only need to install BI Content in SAP BI system, i.e. BI Content installation is not required in source system.

To my understanding, BI Content should be installed in both system

BI Content is installed only on the BI system.

The datasources & related base tables should be available in R/3.

Normally everything is available in RSA5 and to use it, you need to activate it & then it will be available in RSA6.

If for some reason some data source is not available in R/3, you may have to install the components again, i guess.

You can talk to Basis about it.

However, in one of OSS correspondence with SAP, they asked me to activate through provided SAP BI Content Datasource in R/3 through RSA1 BI Content RSDS selection. If we don't install BI Content in R/3, how will they be activated?
