Hi Experts

Material Group in Material Master Basic Data 1 View (MARA-MATKL).

Is it possible to create Material Group 1 to Group 5. (As avilable for sales).

What are the steps involved.

Hi,

Instead of creating Z-Fields in Material Master, use Material Classification Concept.

Create a Class with Class Type "001" in CL02 and Create Characteristics as Material Group 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 in CT04, you can also maintain the values in characteristics so that user will have a restricted value and Search help. Assign Characteristics in Class and then use this class in Material Master and maintain the Values.

Further you can search materials based on the Search Help "Materials by Classification" and also you can use report CL30N.

Also you can call the characteristic values in Z-Reports using Function Module "CLAF_CLASSIFICATION_OF_OBJECTS" i.e. Get Class & Classification data for Object.

You don't need to do this, you can config material hierarchy since it had 7 levels via v/76,let me know your thoughts.
