Material master setup question

We are bringing in a cheese as a ROH material. The shelflife will be 3 years from date of manufacturer, but we do not want to receive it if it is less than 7 months old because it has not aged enough. Is there a way to allow for this in the material master so the user is notified at the time of receipt that the product is not old enough?

Go for Batch management & set self life expiration

The path:

>Batch management--

>Shelf life expiration data

=>1.Maintain Period indicator

=> 2.Set Expiration date check

=>2.1For Plant

&2.2 Movement type mark the shelf life indicator .

For Non- Batch Material:

Without Batch Management, you can carry out SLED & follow the process:

In material master, maintain total shelf life and minimum remaining shelf life of the material in general/plant data view .During MIGO, you need to enter Production Date. If the material life less then minimum remaining shelf life period ( which you specified in the material master), then system would not allow you to post the GR.When you do GR for this material the System will ask for Date of Production of material ( you need to enter ) ...from that the system automatically calculates it SLED....and it checks the Remaining shelf life Expiry Date and if it falls earlier than that period ,then the system will give you Error message and will not allow you to Post the GR

For Example:

During creation of Material you can set like in MM01.....In Gen Plant data/storage 1 view, Maintain required values in the Field of .....Total Self Life ( lets say 1095days) and in Min. Remaining shelf life ( is 210days).

      1. >If your receiving today ie..07.06.2011 and production date is 27.12.2010{ falls within 210days, then system will post GR }

      1. > If your receiving today ie..07.06.2011 and production date is 29.03.2010{ not falls within 210days , then system will not post GR }
