Production of A,B,C Quality Material with different valuation and ML

Hi all,

I have a scenario where we are producing a semi-material and as a normal process the produced material comes out with different quality grade such as A Quality Material, B Quality Material and C Quality Material.

- The stock for all these different quality materials is maintained separately.

- The A Quality Semi-Material can only be used in producing A Quality Finished, B Quality Finished must use B Quality Semi Finished, and C Quality Finished must use C Quality Semi-Finished material from stock.

- The valuation for different quality materials is different and we are using Material Ledger.

- The selling price for different quality materials is also different.

Can anyone please tell me how this scenario will be best managed in SAP ECC 6.0?

Easiset way to do this would be to have different sap material numbers and do stock posting after QM to the correct grades.

You can use grade as Batch characteristics and also split valuation to acheive the same, but will be more complex.

Try with business whether they are ready to use dfifferent part numbers for each grade.

Thanks Rav,

Using different Material codes is an easy option but the client wont go with that as they have thousands of materials.

We thought of using Batch Characteristics too but Split Valuation does not work with Material Ledger.

Can anyone suggest some other approach?
