Archive Logging too slow when running MAIN_SHDCRE/DBCLONE

We are upgrading our ERP 600 system to EHP4 Stack08, SAP EHPI for SAP Netweaver 7.0 stack 08. We are running our application servers on AIX 5.1 with the DB2 v 9.1 database on Zos. We are running with logging turned on until we get to the downtime portion of the upgrade. We are running Zos 1.10 with the ZIIP engine. When the step MAIN_SHDCRE/DBCLONE was executing the ZIIP engine was processing all the work. The DBAs advised me that the ZIIP engine iwas working so fast that the log archive process could not keep up. The upgrade stopped because the redo log files had filled. They have the archive process writing to tape. There are 4 disk of 8 gig each. We are planning to stop the upgrade at the beginning of the PreProcessing step, turn logging off and then continue. Would we benefit from the Accerelated Archive logging feature?

Also when the upgrade failed, there were 131 tapes to read to roll back the DBCLONE jobs. The DBA's advised that it took 3 hours to read the first tape to roll the work back and that there were 21 more tapes to read. We cancelled DB2, restored and started over. Please help me with a possible solution to this issue.

Thanks in advance
