Unit of Measurement

Hi,

How do we deal with below scenario of Alternative Unit of Measurement?

Material is managed in UOM - 'EA - Each'.

Each piece of material is of different length.

1 Ea = 10 meter

1Ea = 11 meter

1EA = 9.5 meter

etc...

FYI, Unit of issue is meter, but stock is to be maintained in Each and every one piece should have one Batch Number.

User should be at any time should be able to see stock as below -

Material - abc -- 3Pcs of 10 meter length

Material - abc -- 2 pcs of 11 meter length

Material - abc -- 5 pcs of 9.5 meter length

etc..

How do we handle this scenario in SAP?

Hi Ajay,

This is not possible in standard SAP to have different values for 1 Alternate UOM.

In your case it is advisable to have 3 different Material codes ( you can put the description same like 1 Ea = 10 meter,

1Ea = 11 meter, 1EA = 9.5 meter)...Also it will be very easy for client's user to use these materials where ever it is required.

I understand this, but we cann't have multiple materials created. Its a continuous process and output is coming out continuously. But based on actual sales requirement, length differs.

Hi,

In MMBE

Exta >> Allowed units of measure

If you select respective UoM, then stock is displayed in that unit

Or else you can manually change UoM and click on refresh

Basic question is how do we handle this alternative unit of measurement.

Since you can see in my example that length varies though its single piece.

Hi,

The ratio between two unit is not fix so we can't

Material - abc -- 3Pcs of 10 meter length

Material - abc -- 2 pcs of 11 meter length

Material - abc -- 5 pcs of 9.5 meter length

Rather you can work like this

either you can create different material code those have length 10/11/9.5 or either FIX the meter lenght

I also faced same problem in one of my textile industry implementation
