Hi,

There are a few advantages of using FPN - eliminating data redundancy by reusing portal content & eliminating data migration from one portal to the other. More over there is existence of separate portals makes the task of maintaining the portals simpler.

The two scenarios in which FPN can be implemented are as follows:

Content federation: One portal functions as the logon portal for all users and the remaining portals function as content providers.

Portal federation: Each portal installation can function as an autonomous entity serving its own content and users, but also exposing and consuming content to and from other portals in the federation.

There are various ways in which content can be content can be reused in an FPN scenario.

1. Remote Role Assignment

2. Remote Delta Links

3. Remote Application Integration

4. WSRP Application Sharing

For BI report integration, you can leverage the Remote Application sharing feature of FPM. It offers means to run applications/reports only on the producer portal without creating any portal content there. All portal content creation and maintenance can be done through the consumer portal with an iView wizard offered in Portal Content Studio.
