Dear Gurus,
I am planning to configure Solution Manager to be able to do automatic renewal of maintenance certificate for my systems.Has anyone here has the experience in doing so and if yes, I would really appreciate if someone could share documents or notes related to setting up this from scratch. Please kindly advise on this.
Thanking you in advance.
Regards,
John
Hi John,
I would start with the help page at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smehp1/helpdata/en/89/a7c08d740c4cffb491f98801f17d30/frameset.htm which is unusually good for an SAP help page As long as your EWA's are already working, the setup is trivial. The help page describes the other prereqs. Last time I checked the process only supports ABAP systems although I know there are plans to push out Java licenses through the SMD agents in the future (maybe SolMan 7.1?).

That's actually available with 7.0 EhP 1. The Java certs aren't mandatory yet, but of course that's how the ABAP ones started out.

As Jon wrote, once EWA is setup, you practically get the maintenance certificate distribution for free. So you should try for a guide on EWA setup instead of one on maintenance certificates alone. For example, "[How to Generate EWAs for Satellite Systems|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0f35bf3-14a3-2910-abb8-89a7a294cedb]" (SDN blog). Then check out [Note 1280664|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1280664], "Distribution of maintenance certificates: Troubleshooting".
Regards,
Sean
