Hi Rahul,

OBN is a type of navigation used in the portal between the two iViews/pages(source and target iView) using the operation defined which can be performed on the business entity(business Object)

Kindly go through the below URLS for the detailed describtion,

Hello,

First of all, the difference between simple portal navigation and OBN is:

In Portal Navigation, the Navigation Target must be and remain in a specific location on the PCD (direct URL).

But in OBN, the target location can be changed as the search scope is the useru2019s Roles.

OBN (Object Based Navigation) is an advanced navigation technology driven by Operations, based on Business Objects (BO) and the user Roles.

The Object Based Navigation solution allows to:

Defines Operation(s) for BO (Business Objects)

Defines which iViews/Pages implement these Operations.

OBN allows a different target for different users, when both uses the same Source iView and the same OBN Link/button.

Consider the below usecase for better understanding:

There are two involved roles:

1.Sales Person

2.Sales Manager

Both sales person and sales manager are given the same u201CCustomer Listu201D iView (the Source iView).

Every Customer name is an OBN link, based on BO = Customer and Operation = Details

Both Target iViews u2013 u201CCustomer Detailsu201D and u201CCustomer Stock Statusu201D implements the u2018Detailsu2019 Operation

The source iview (customer list) is assigned to both users roles.

And the target iviews are assigned to 2 different roles(respectively)

In this case, the "sales person" role will have the "customer details" iview

and the "sales manager" role will have u201CCustomer Stock Statusu201D iview.

So when "sales person" clicks on the obn link, he will be directed to "customer details" iview whereas when "sales manager" clicks on the obn link, he can see the "customer staock status" iview.

Hope this helps.

Sowmya
