Subtable Vs User Defined Dimension

Hi Experts,

What is the difference between Sub table and user defined dimension. As User defined table can always be used as Subtable (to break the account flow). Than why SAP has given sub table specifically for account movement/flow.

Cant we use user defined table to break the account flow/movement. Is there any benefit to use Sub table dimension?

The "Subtable" dimension triggers standard native behaviour from the system, such as balance carry forward.

As mentioned before, you can see that in the business rules. It is mandatory in a consolidation application.

This is not the case for user defined dimensions (no specific logic behind, just a simple subassignment)

Hi,

There are few business rules, which uses the flow type of dimension. However, as you said, it is not mandatory to have the flow type of dimensions.

It just makes it simpler in case of few business rules.

Hope this helps.
