Improving performance of portal and webdynpro applications

Please give me some pointers to improve the performance of the portal especially webdynpro java applications.

I will suggest you to take the End to End traces to get the root cause of the poor performance.

If End to End trace is not possible then go for the HTTP client side trace and also Wily Trace on J2EE Engine side.

From my experience generally its caused by the expensive RFC Calls . You need to the check the same by ST12 trace on the ABAP Server.

Also you can add the URL Parameter sap-wd-showInfo=X. This will give you time stats in the status bar.
