sir,
What is the purpose of using Inpsection methode t code QS31
Faisal
Inspection methods tell the person running the test how to run the test. In most places I've used them we simply create an inspection method number and assign that to the master inspection characteristic. The method number then references a plant based book or manual that contains all the methods on how to run particular tests. Sometimes these method are internationallly recgonized methods such as ASTM methods or they just might be method numbers specific to the plant.
You can, in SAP, maintain the actual text about the method in the inspection method if you want. But most places don't. They prefer keeping a hard copy book in the lab or a set of secured word or PDF files on a networked system. SOP's of the plant usually determine how all of this is ultimately done.
Methods are usually most important to an SAP implementation not so much as to tell the lab people how and what to do to run a test, but for the creation of the COA. Many customer's insist that a method number be printed on the COA along with the test description. In the COA profile you can specify if you want to print the method name or the long text of the method. Many places put the ASTM number or other test info in the long text and have that printed in place of the local method name.
Hope this helps.
