Hello,
I would like to know how the MRP global run (MD01or inthe background) picks the sequence of its materials?
Is it by order of material number? first number first run? or is there anyother logic?
Thanks for any reply
Aart
HI
The planning is done on the basis of low level code. The low-level code controls the sequence in which the material is planned in an MRP run,First the materials with low-level code 0 are planned, then the materials with low-level code 1, and so on. The lower the low-level code, the higher the number that is assigned to the material.
The level that is set in the material master record represents the level at which the material will be planned. This means that the material will only be planned once all assemblies in which it occurs have been planned and exploded.
The low-level code is set internally in the material master record when the BOM is maintained.
You can find from F1 help also.

Dear Aart,
As well said by Dogboy49,the system plans the materials according to the low level code sequence.
Materials may appear in several products and in several production levels of a product. The low-level code represents the
lowest level of usage of a material within all product structures.
It determines the sequence in which the materials are planned. The system plans materials with the low-level code 0 first and
then those with 1 and so on. The lower the low-level code is, the higher the number assigned to the level.

Dear,
During Background job, system will check the planning file entry, system will consider Only those material during MD01 or in Back ground, During MRP run system will explode the BOM of the planning file entry material and run for Semifinished and raw material also.
Check the processing mode in MRP run( NETCH, NETPL...)
If you are using NETCH
check the planning file entry in MD21
enter plant , and tick the Netch( net change in total horizon)
and excute, system will consider this Material only in MD01 and also the BOM of the planning file entry

you can check your planning profile..(OMOD I don't quite remember it..spro >production>MRP-->..planning profile)
As far as I know, when running MRP,it will pick the parts in that file..
check that file ,then you will know it's sequence...

Aart,
Generally, the most important sort is Low Level code. After that, I have never investigated. From a planning perspective, any other sort is irrelevant.
