Is there a Length restriction on custom input fields

Hi experts,

We added a custom input field via EEW a while back, the length of the field is CHAR 145(data element). When i go to UI config tool the length property of the field clearly shows that is CHAR 145. However in the CRM Web UI the input field only allows us to enter up to 65 characters.

Does anyone know if there is a character limit on input fields? or any other clues??

your help is very much appreciated,

Jeannet.

Yes there is. Secondly you also cannot add too many custom fields to an attribute structure. SAP has done this to ensure that the changes on the UI are supported by different DB providers.

This has been done to maintain DB independence for CRM enhancements. I think the filed limit is 154 KB or some. There is an SAP note 355898 for this too.

I summarize the same below:

Table width 1962 bytes or less (4030 bytes or less as of Release 6.20 Support Package 25 )

Key length 255 bytes or les

Field number 249 fields or less (749 fields or less as of Release 46A )

Key columns 16 fields or less

Buffering is only possible if key length is 120 bytes or less.
