Hi all,
Why should we use network for CATS. Why cann't we use WBS for time entry which has already been implemented ?

Hi,
I would say if you wana track your plan cost vs. actual cost at activity level. For example you planned 50 hours which cost 500 usd and now u waana see in reports that on that particulat activity 44 hours done so actual cost is 440 usd. Reporting at this level can be seen only if you are posting the cost on netwrok/ activity level.
If you will post data directly on WBS , you will bet actual cost only at wbs level. So its upto the requirement of project. Feel free to revert back in case of any further clarification.

Hi Sunil,
Just search the forum with the keyword as "CATS" and you will get a lot of information on the configuration required to achieve this. This is pretty standard and you can also refer SAP Help or consult with your HR consultant. Most of the settings for this will be done from the HR side.

Hi,
Its not mandatory to use Networks for using CATS. You can very well use WBS and go ahead with CATS postings. This entirely depends how your business wants to handle CATS postings. You use Networks/Activities when you would want to assign resources to particular activities and allow them to book their hours against the activity. In cases where you want the actual costs to be posted directly to WBS you can use the WBS.
Network/Activities are particularly used in case of T&M projects.

Hi,
You can use WBS also. Now what to use is depend upon your business requirement.
Mainly you use netowork in timesheet to capture acivity assigned cost for which alredy activity type are assigned and when you book you time in timesshet at that time in the background sysym calculate the cost for the time booked by multiplying it with the rate maintained in activty type.
To capture onlt the bokkings you can use the WBS element.
Explore your requirement.
