Multi Mode Shipment

Dear SAP Guru's

I got lots of documents on Multi mode shipment. But I am not clear that do I need to create the different Shipment document types and Shipment cost types for different mode such as Road, Ship and Air

SAP suggest to define new document types for each and every type of mode. I found one document in Wiki which suggest to calculate the price on leg and need some inputs / briefs on how to calculate based on leg.

How can I configure the scenario? Request you to brief on the same.

1) Have the required leg wise condition types like plant to port, port to customer destination which can be maintained in TK11

2) Once you create the shipment document via VT01N, you have to key in manually the different vendor codes under the tab "Stages" and save.

3) Now if you create a shipment document, liability will be created on those vendors.
