Archiving Object CRM_OPPT how to customize selection criteria

Hello

For the Archiving Object CRM_OPPT the Pre-processing program (CRM_ARC_OPPT_CHECK) and the Write program (CRM_ARC_OPPT_SAVE) only have Transaction Type (PROCESS_TYPE) and Transaction Number (OBJECT_ID) as the selection criteria. Is it possible to expand expand the selection criteria to include BU_PARTNER?

What's the best practice for customizing an Archiving Object? Should I copy CRM_OPPT and create ZCRM_OPPT and create Z versions of the programs and archive functions? Or does CRM_ARC_OPPT_CHECK and SAVE call BAdI that will allow me to modify the selection criteria?

Any help would be appreciated.
