Excel export error (Crystal XI)

Hi Guys,

I created a Crystal runtime viewer using the merge modules. The users now want to be able to export the report to Excel. The option is available but they get an error when they try to export the report.

1. There is only an option to export to Excel 97-2000?

2. The export (data only) option works but not the default one. i get an error that says "Failed to export the report". How do I resolve this?

Thanks for the help.

What is the exact version of CR? (See Help | About).

Does the export work in the designer?

What CR SDK are you using?

Is this on you development computer or after you deploy the app (if you are using an CR SDK).

Ludek,

I do not have the designer installed on the server where the runtime is installed at the moment so I cannot see the version. The version of the designer on the Dev machine is 11.5.8.826.

The export does work in the Designer.

Not sure about the SDK. I know we used the merge modules that were available for VB 6 for Crystal Reports XI.

This is on the deployed machine.

Are you the developer? Just asking because my troubleshooting questions will be different - depending...

How was the deployment created? It may be that who ever created the deployment project configured the merge modules to not install all of the export options. Also, see the wiki [Available Export Formats, Crystal Reports 9.1 to Crystal Reports 2008|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/AvailableExportFormats%2CCrystalReports9.1toCrystalReports+2008].

BTW.; you are using the Report Designer Component (RDC) SDK. Also, the above wiki is more for .NET development, but will apply to the RDC also.

Sorry for the delay in answering.

I did develop the runtime but it was very basic since I am not a full time developer. The funny thing is that this worked on the previous production server so it does not seem to have anything to do with the runtime?

I will have a look at the Wiki.
