Hi,
We have couple of interfaces to load data. But why Flat-files are used? In which scenarios? For testing purposes we generally go for FF.
Could you please describe me about FF?
Replies would be appreciated.
Regards,
Suman
Hi,
At my client we are using flat file basically for FI module.
There are lot of things in FI which doesnt change frequently Suppose budget data that is updated once in a year so for that we are using flat file upload to load budget data.
There might be a possibility of other scnearios as well.It solely depends on the customer requirement and solution given by consultant.
Hope it helps you in understanding one typical scenario where we use flat file upload.
Regards,
AL

Hi,
In very simple words, in BI if you want to report any data which is not from SAP source, you can use Flat Files as it is very easy to implement. Also can be used as a stop gap facility to build in quick applications, reducing the cost and time of the development.
to adjust data in BI, some of the data which is not readily available from the extractors and enhancement is not possible, then can be loaded directly using flat files.
There is a wide range of usage depending upon the various scenarios and requirements.

Shyam.

hi,
Flat files can be used in cases where the client is global and at some places the source system used cannot be intergrated with SAP or the cost of integration (UD/DB connect) is much. In cases like these the small regions submit their reports in excel format using their local reporting system which is then uploaded into BW for a global report through a flat file.

Arvind.
