Not sure about your exact requirement but you can export the idoc as an xsd to your local system and then upload that into ESR as an External definition with any changes that you need to make to the content.

IDoc type & Message Type both are different.
IDoc type you can check in Tcode WE30 & Message type in WE81.
No IDoc type can be used as Message Type.

hi,
an idoc name is formed from: message type, idoc type and optional extension.
you can import the structure of the idoc in the repository. the message type will be the root tag of the xsd/xml.
and afterwards you can use it as an interface
