I think your question is do you have to specifically go to the stock posting screen and enter in the qty's when you have already recorded the defects. It seems redundant to you.

But the answer is yes. You must. Not all defects that a business might set up are defects that result in an actual rejection of the material. So SAP can't assume that for every defect recorded, you reject one item. Besides, you can also record muttple defects for the same item. I.e you inspect 100, record 10 defects of miss applied label and one defet for a cracked bottle. Should SAP put 10 bottles to blocked? Or 11? The cracked bottle might be one of the ones with a miss applied label making it ten items to blocked. Or it might be an entirely different one thus making it 11 blocked bottles. SAP can't figure that out.

In some businesses, some defects might not acutallly result in the item going to blocked stock as reject. A slight variation in color might not be important for some products. But critical in others.

So yes.. even though you record ten defects, you have to go to the stock positng screen and make the correct postings.

Apart from destructive sample where system propose to put the sample in "to sample " in stock posting screen ,its very much depends upon the business scenario whether you want to accept the whole lot.

In simple words there is connection between Stock posting & defect recording & result recording

Hi Debasish,

Itu2019s not mandatory to do so.

It depends upon your decision whether in spite of defects you want to accept it.
