Avoid locking of material during Reservation Creation

Hi All,

We have the following Scenario in our Production system.( ECC 5.0 )

User 1 gets a faxed copy of the materials required. He creates a reservation using MB21. At the same time User 2 also gets a faxed copy and he also creates a Reservation.

Now when the User 1 is creating a reservation for Material A , at the same tiem User 2 is also creating a reservation for Material A.

User 2 is not able to create a reservation as User 1 is creating it for Material A and User 2 gets a msg saying that the Material A is locked.This makes the User2 to halt in his reservation creation process.

Since the quantum of Reservations that need to be created are huge the Customer wants that both User1 and User 2 should be able to create a reservation and this process should not get halted due to the material locking issue.

Can we have a scenario where in Both the users (1 and 2) would be able to create a reservation for Material A at the same time, if by coincidence both the users are creating reservation for the same material.

Hi Rohit,

I dont think it is possible as it is SAP Architectural designe where Shared Locking Mechanism is applied for multiple update of same content in specified database. This is also applied for the Consistency maintenence in Database.

Probably as User Descipline you can controll this by allocation of Reservation Creation in time intervals by two plants or wharehouse.
