Issue with Variant configuration

Hello SAP gurus,

I want to update the existing variant configurations - by adding new characteristics and deleting characteristics from the class - I 'm receiving an error message when I attempt to delete the characteristic the error message reads " Characteristic XXXXXXXXXX Centrifuge used in configurations with this class : no deletion"

When I checked I found that the characteristic is used in 3 sales documents. So my doubt is because of this I am not able to delete the characteristics?

I want to delete the characteristic, please guide me how to do that?
