I have just been informed by our Infrastructure Team that there are Gigs of files with names like BC_BC_XMB_<date_time>.ARCHIVE sitting on disk. I have inherited this system to support. From the looks of the files they have been being written since the initial golive of the system; years of data.
What I need to figure out quickly is how to get rid of most of these files and then set the retention period so I keep only a limited number of them.
I have looked on-line and have found lots of "pieces" of how archiving works in PI, but I have not found a specific example of exactly what needs to be configured and scheduled.... you know, a checklist. The business has agreed that we only need to keep 90 days of messages in PI. So, I am not convinced we need archiving at all, but just need to manage the the length of time messages are kept in the database.
Is there such a "checklist"? Or can someone point me to the relevant documents?
Thank you for your assistance.
