Hi,

What are the factors I need to take care when I create a new document type. What are the requirements which may need a new document type to be created.

Factor to take care:

1) Number range of doc type

2) Link to item category

3) Link to PR doc

Requirement:

1) suppose you have three plant and you want plant wise number range for PO min that case can create new Doc type copying from NB and give number range

2) service PO or import PO also you can define new doc type

1. Document Type Description

2. No. Range

3. Field Selection

4. Item No. Interval

5. Allowed Item Categories

6. Copy Control with PR, RFQ and Contract Document Types

7. Release Strategy if based on Document Type

8. If it is a STO Document Type then "Stock Transport Setting"

document types can be considered as folders. we use folders to group together and differentiate between one another. The business scenario dictate the attributes, how many etc.

Hi,

for creating new PO Doc. type you need to take care for followings.

1) No. Range to be maintained for the PO Doc. Type

2) Item Catagory to be allowed.

3) Link PR Doc. Type.

4) PO Doc. Type to be maintained in Release Strategy

5) Authorization for new PO doc. Type.

6) Doc. type to be maintained in all 'Z' reports if created doc. type wise.

If some group of users needed perticular function the function should deviate with others.So you can cretea new document type and assigning new number range for the document type to get reporting purpose.The requirement any thing only for reporting and group of people needs and the selection perametres in PO.

If business requirements were not addressed by standard document type then you may

need to create new document type.

hello,

Mainly consider what kind of reports client is asking for.If material type , material group, purchasing group does not solve your problem then go for different PO document types
