I wrote this detailed article that compares SEM-BCS and BPC. It might help you :

Hi Srinivasan,
In addition to above, in a crux, IP is a planning tool, BCS is a consolidation tool and BPC is a planning as well as reporting tool. However, IP and BPC (NetWeaver) has BI as a back-end, they functionality is quite different. It depends upon your requirement which of the tool you want to work on, what functionality you want to work upon.
Hope this clarifies.

Hi Srinivasan,
As mentioned above, BPC as consolidation as well planning both. you need not go for separate tool for both of them.
BPC is an Account-based model whereas IP is KeyFigure-based model.
BPC has following added functionalities:
1. BPC has highly flexible and customized Input Schedules and Reports which IP doesnu2019t have.
2. Business Process Flows.
3. Work Status is present.
4. Audit trail.
For a detailed study on BPC, you can refer the following links:

Hope this resolves your issue.

Hi,
IP is used for only planning whereas BPC is used for both planning and consolidation.
Technically, it would be difficult to point out the difference; since both of them are completely different tools. The way the objects are configured is different. The interfaces are different. Practically, there is no similarity.
My suggestion, it wont be a good idea to find out the difference. Its good to find out the difference, if there is atleast something common. However, in this case, there is nothing common, apart from the fact that both have SAP BI as the database. Having said this, there is another version of BPC - BPC for MS. This doesnt have BI as the database. Instead, it uses SQL.
Hope this helps.
