Hello -

Regarding the usage of the correct device type for the model of printer being used refer to the information on the SAP print vendor program.

With the SAP Printer Vendor program (see SAP Note 1130927) printer vendors are empowered to build device types for their printers in a well-defined and well-integrated manner.

In case your printer model is not listed in the Printer Vendor Wizard Notes, please proceed as described in SAP Note 1103826.

1130927 SAP Printer Vendor Program

1103826 Printer is missing in the Device Type Selection Wizard

Regarding positioning on the physical print out please be aware that SAP simply forwards the text position, which is selected in the form, to the printer. For example if a PCL printer is used, the printer understands this text position relative to the 'logical page', which has the height of the physical page, but the width is reduced by the non-printable area.

So if text is placed at the very top or edge, it can happen that it is outside of the printable area and that it is cut off. So this is no

problem of the device type, but of the printer language/printer.

SAP note 101266 - SAPscript: printable area for laser printers

SAP Note 183948 outlines methods of designing forms to minimise the differences.

Of course there is a certain minimum margin needed by the printer to transport the paper through the printer.

For problem with margins/shift etc.. then the easy solution may be to use the Horizontal Move and Vertical Shift settings in your Output Device definition via transaction SPAD to adjust the difference.

Regards.

Hi

I think the problem lies in the frame sent to the printer, so you have to choose a good printer driver for your printer, from administration spool (SPAD).
