Inspection point as per non bookish definition means -->If you want to do result recording on same set of char/mic again & again then Inspection point is used.

there can be several types like

free defined -->when you deliberately create is dynamically at any time.

on time ,container --->say after every 1 hr you can automatically create

sample-->for sample mgt

plant maintainence --->for calibration etc

(In above cases it becomes mandetory to use Inspection points)

You can valuate the Inspection point depending upon the definition.

Make sure that you see the customization under Quality planing->inspection planning->general--->define identifier for inspection point

Now if you do not which to have above circumstances like multiple RR on same set of char,sample mt or Plant Maint then you need not to use Inspection points.
