mat no gettting displayed instead of description

hi all

we have a problem in one of our bex report outputs. In our report for some values within PLANT field-> under # not assigned node , we see that for some of the values in that field it is showing the material number instead it should show the description .for few values within the same column we see the description is showing up but in between like for some values it is showing the characteristic value instead of description.

You can reload data in 0material using datasource 0material_text. It will bring all the description from the source system.

Hi Krishnav,

For values in master data short/medium/long text description is maintained in master data Text Table.

If no text is maintained for that particular data it will automatically show same value(which is in key) as description in report.

So u need to check if any text is maintained for those values in master data text table.U can check this via :

Goto master data infoobject->double click and goto master data/text tab ->under text table properties label->text table(this is your text table).Click to open table and there u can check if any text is maintained or not.

Hi,

If you are getting some descriptions but missing others, the issue is you don't have descriptions assigned for those keys.

So, check Master Data in BW and see the texts (make sure you check all the texts that are activated.. shart, medium, long).

Hi Krishna,

Check the text type enabled for material in the BEx qeury. You could see if short text or medium text is enabled for material from its properties. Then check in the text table for material if the text is maintained. If you are using 0MATERIAL, check table /BI0/TMATERIAL.

Activate the master data, run the attribute change run for this master data and the description will be available in report.

In case if both the above steps have been performed then check whether the description of the plant is maintained in the source system.
