Subtype in PA tables

What does SUBTY(Sub Type) in PA tables mean?

HI Gaurav,

Subtype in Pa means in some InfoType there are several subtypes(or sub category ) like 0006 its for address and you can say there are some sub category of address like permanent address and temporary address so for this IT 01 is for permanent address and 02 is for temporary address.

OK. So now from where I can get to know which subtype corresponnds to what? I mean there are different subtypes like 01,09,10. And in case of PA tables if address is taken from subty =01 then user id is taken from subty=10. Why so?

Dear Gaurav,

I think you have to take the example of IT 0105 it will clear the picture. like 0010 is for email id and 01 is for sap id and 05 is for fax so you will maintain those subtypes only which is available with the employee like if emloyee does not have fax in that case you will not maintain 05.
