CM Relevance & Superior Document.

Friends,

I have 2 basic questions here.

1. In CV01n, there is something called "CM Relevance" in Document Data. For this there are two inputs available like "Not relvant for CM" and "Relavant for CM". I would like to know when exactly we can make use of this field.

Small scenario to support this would be highly appriciated.

2. In same document tab, there is something called "Superior Document". When we will normally use this field ?

Regards,

SM

Regarding your second question,

2. In same document tab, there is something called "Superior Document". When we will normally use this field ?

Superior document, part of 'Document Hierarchy' concept, is typically set when you are looking at having a status dependant release strategy.Assume, you have doc 'Doc A' which has a superior doc 'Doc B'.Now,whenever you attempt to release superior doc 'Doc B',ther is a check executed to verify if subordinate doc 'Doc A' has been released or not.Only post release of the subordinate doc, the superior doc will be released.

However, pls note that document can be used only once in a hierarchy.

Hi Sudarshan,

For your first question,

1. In CV01n, there is something called "CM Relevance" in Document Data. For this there are two inputs available like "Not relvant for CM" and "Relavant for CM". I would like to know when exactly we can make use of this field.

Assume there exists a product based company. Now,the product undergoes numerous life cycle phases right from ideation, concept dev, design, engg, service to maintainence. In each of the life cycle, the product has different configurations.Typically,a configuration consists of objects like Document,Material,BOM,Routing etc.

If the company wishes to track the life cycle the product has traversed, then 'Cofiguration Management'(part of ECR/ECO solution) is enabled/configured in SAP. It is in this context that DMS documents are set as relevant/not relevant to CM(Configuration Mgmt). If the above scenario is maintained, then the details can be viewed using CC04 transaction for Product Structure Browser.

Hope this brings in the required clarity.
