Hello All,

Basically, we want to publish all the content of a specific folder of our KM on to our corporate Intranet site which is a non-sap system. Is there a way to be able to publish the content of the KM Folder on to a non-sap system's file system. I would appreciate if you can let me know of any solution for this. Let me know if you need any further clarification. Thanks.

Regards,

Gopal.

Hello Gopal,

Maybe I've misunderstood your requirements however some options:

Create an FS or DBFS repository in KM, then your files would be stored on a remote file system and still accessible from KM. However there are some limitations, for example if using DBFS then it's not recommended to edit files directly on the filesystem as their metadata is stored in the database and this could lead to inconsistencies. See http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/62/468698a8e611d5993600508b6b8b11/frameset.htm

Another alternative might be to create a web folder or map a network drive pointing to the KM content and use this on your filesystem.

Hello Lorcan,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I am relatively new to KM and would like your advise to decide on our requirements. Basically, we are planning to broadcaste some reports from our BI system on to a KM folder in Portal. Later, the reports that are stored in the KM folder should be published on to our Intranet system. We are only talking about few reports every week and its not going to be very larger documents. Could you please suggest the best practice for this solution and any pointers that can help me for the config would of great help. Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello Gopal,

If you are putting content on your Intranet and assuming that you would not be editing this content outside of KM, i.e. only read requests, then I would think that DBFS mode may be the most suitable, at least this is the most efficient mode and is more reliable than FSDB mode where there is a higher risk of metadata loss. Here the files would be stored in the filesystem and the folders and metadata would be stored in the DB. You main concern here would be synchronisation between the DB and FS so it's important no modification are done on the FS, even virus scanners .

So you can create such a repository : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/62/468698a8e611d5993600508b6b8b11/content.htm

You will then have this repository available under KM Content and can create subfolders into which you want to publish your reports.

To be honest I haven't encountered such a scenario before, where KM content was published to an external intranet and it's difficult to say what will work best in your scenario. The other option is to use the webDAV link directly to the content in KM, if you go to details > settings > properties > access links > of any KM resource you will fine the WebDAV URL to that resource which you can use to access the content via webDAV using web folders, map network drive, or just accessing the URL directly, perhaps this is something you could use either. Have a look at:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/4e/05f44941f4bd4890c9e54015810800/frameset.htm

I hope this helps.
