Hi,

I am looking for some information related to SAP on Oracle. Is it the best possible database backend for SAP. I would really approeciate if someone can shed some light on the below:

Q1: What are the benefits of deploying oracle DB for SAP?

Q2: What are the weekness/problems with oracle DB for SAP?

Q3: If oracle is not the best option then which DB to be used?

Q4: What are the best practices for deploying and maintaing the above database (e.g. for HA, performance or security perspective)?

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't do it that way but rather ask:

- What is your requirement for the specifc environment?

- What is your current knowledge of Oracle in house?

If you have that information I'd get the all databases for your system constellation and compare features of one or the other and if they can fulfill your requirements.

Oracle is the most expensive database (in sense of licenses and maintenance fees) but has the most features. It's also the most complex one depending on what features you use. Whether you need them or not is your decision.
