Make text field in the Asset Master unchangeable.

When an asset master is created and saved, the description of the Asset in the Master should not be able to change further. I was told that it has to be done through a validation and screen layout rules. I dont know how to proceed with screen layout rules. Your help would be helpful indeed.

Here you can define the Rules but Iam not Sure..if you can make the Description as unchangable.

It is not possible to change the description un editable,instead you can remove authorizations to the users fro AS02 transaction and allow only key users to change the asset

Dear:

In live system it is never recommended to gray out the text field after the data have been posted to it. However you can still do it .It's a modification of SAPLAIST program (screen 1000). Take help of ABAPER,it would be considered as modification of standard program and it is not recommended. You can also try validation in GGB0 but in standard there is no provision for making such a change.
