Strategy Change Only in APO

Dear Experts,

Can we directly change the Strategy ( Lets say from 10 to 20) Only in APO. For example In R/3, strategy is 10 and i integrated this material with APO.

Now this material is getting planned in APO, which means that foreast is present and Orders are generated by SNP.

Now can i straight away change the Strategy from 10 to 20 only in APO, so that when Planning happens, even sales order demands is considered ? Are there any consequence of changing this only in APO and at a time when there is already some data present ( like Forecast, Preq etc) under strategy 10 ? ERP Still continues to have strateg

Yes the change you are asking for is not at all straightforward. Currently your forecast consumption is happening based on the strategy that in product master. Now if you change the value of strategy , in APO, you are going to have an inconsistency because the forecasts and sales orders that are going to flow into APO (in the future) are going to have a different consumption behaviour and the consumption logic is going to be different for the already existing orders and S.O' . To solve this issue , you have to wipe out the forecasts and S.O's completely for APO and then change the strategy and re-release forecast and S.O's.

The other issue is whenever you make changes to the material in R/3 , the material CIF is going to pick it up and change the strategy in APO back to its original value (that is you are going to lose the value that you put in). To avoid this from happening you have to put custom logic in material CIF user exit to turn off the logic of updating the strategy in APO with that in R/3. But the downside of this approach is that it is going to affect all materials .
