upgrade portal to EHP2 for NW7, issue

Hello,

is it possible to install the EHP2 for our ESS/MSS portal NetWeaver 7.0? the backend system has been upgraded to EHP4 for ERP.

now, i want to know is it posible to upgrade the portal to EHP2 or not?

also what abiut the ESS/MSS packages, which version is compatible ?

Hi,

I would suggest you to install EHP1 for portal. As EHP2 is corresponding to EHP5 for ERP systems which is not yet release for general use.

Also, ESS/MSS components are released corresponding to EHP4 release. You can further check below link:

according to the link , i can see the ESS/MSS deplends on the backend ( ECC) and not dependent on frontend (Portal)

please correct me if am i wrong.

thanks for your support, i checked the note but i didn't get anytthin inside the note saying we can't use portal EHP2 with ECC EHP4.

really it is a big confusion, i expected the MOPZ will do all of this but it doesn't. and as I understood from SAP support the ESS/MSS BP will not be included into the NW EHP upgrade stack and we have to download/deploy it manually.

so if this the case whyshoul I use the MOPZ??

Hi,

I do not think it is explicitely mentioned that SAP ERP EhP4 ESS/MSS would not run on NW 7.02 Portal.

But as in the WIKI pages, it clearly mentions that SAP ERP EhP4 can run on either NW 7.00 or 7.01 Portal only. The product definition itself mentions the Netweaver platform that can be used.

And, regarding download of ERP Portal content on NW 7.0x based systems, MOPZ does download this -> but you would have to maintain the systems properly in SMSY.

Check blog , especially section 3.2. Even though the illustration is for ERP EhP5 Portal content but the system modelling is same for ERP EhP4 as well. Please go through it carefully.

Hi,

If you look at the note then it has mentioned Netweaver stack corresponding to ERP stack. So, EHP5 corresponding to Netweaver EHP2.
