unable to generate planned orders

Dear SAP guru,

tried to execute long term plan thru tcode MS01. However upon evaluation of MRP run result at MS04, the system was only able to generate independent requirements and 0 planned orders. why is this so?

Pls check MRP type, strategy group and confirm if no stock is available.

Hi ,

Please check the current stock in the system, it may be happened that current stock in the system is more than the independent requirement , so system will not generating planned order.

Otherwise check the setting for MRP type , strategy group .

Bobby, something sounds wrong, since independent requirements are never generated by the system, but rather are the input to the planning process!

yes they are the input. what i meant was, that on ms04 you will only see independent requirements, and no planned orders. understand now?
