DISP+Work processe terminated / ECC can't connect ...

Hello everyone,

it's been two days reading and trying different solutions already posted to ths topic. Now i've reached the end of my knowledge.

The problem is as folows:

I have a server here on which I installed SAP ECC 6.0 with MaxDB two years ago. Since it wasn't used much now, i saw no purpose of maintaining it. Until now. I found out, that i had access to SAP with all the rights i needed, but misplaces the username / password to the database (control, superdba, sap<sid>).

I am not the brightest light on SAP products although i took trainings on MaxDB and SAP ECC installation (2 years ago).

I managed to reset the password for the user CONTROL somewhere through the LiveCache Transaction (i think). Since the CONTROL user was already logged on i could reset the password with a dbmcli command.

Then i was able to reset the passwords for the other users: superdba and sapc01.

You might have noticed that my sid is C01, so i will continue with this term rather than writing sap<sid>

Anyways. i restarted the mashine and now the MMC tells me, that the SAP System cannot connect to the database.

The error diplayed in the MMC is:

SAP-Basis System: Initialization           DB-Connect Failed, Return Code  000256

and

SAP-Basis System: Operating system call           recv failed (error no. 10054)

As i am not the only one with this problem i already read all the other threads and notes concerning this topic (ie 25591). Sadly none of them helped me. I also tried updating the xuser list as told in the Note 39439. STill no success.

I also changed the password for the SAPServceC01 user.

Let's assume the i choose the password "fortknox", all my users (superdba, control, sapc01, SAPservicec01, etc) have the same password. that makes it a bit easier.

Okay, i managed to solve my problem by doing the following:

The xuser entry i was editing was for the wrong user.

I had to use a parameter for for editing the DEFAULT connection for user myDomain\SAPServiceC01

Then it worked.

That is a little thing the SAP Note should maybe mention, as i was connected to the SAP Server with my regular User/Pass for our Domain.

From the work process logs:

Connect to database failed, rc = -10709 (Connection failed (RTE:Database name is missing))

Note 39439 might be helpful to recreate the XUSER entries.
