Hi guys,

we have recently installed the ECC6. In webdynpro component, the view layout is not displaying, instead it showing the error message like " the page cannot be displayed".

I came to know that, in order to display the view layout we need to activate some services .

Please let me know what are the services should activate in order to display the layout.

Regards

Srinivas

You need to add the the entry for the hsot server in the host file of your local machine.

where you have opened workbench.

go to the hostfiles and add the IP address of the application server and its host name ....

if you dont know the host naem write click on the view designer where you are getting the error.

and go to properties and in the address URL

host name will be there in a structure like http://<hostname>:portname/sap/bc/wdvd?_.

from there copy the host naem and add it to the host file with the IP address.

Also serive that is needed for view desinger is in SICF --> /sap/bc/wdvd

thanks

I see this recommendation a lot and it is NOT a requirement. You should never have to add an entry to the host file of your local machine. Instead the hostname of the application server should be addressible via DNS.

Hi Shweta,

You have to ask your BASIS Team, they have to add the following

ipaddress       localhost

Ipaddress     <somename>nw.sap.com     <somename>nw

ipaddress     <somename>erp.sap.com( this we can find by executing any tcode like se80->utilities->settings and select internet tranasaction server tab and test service in that http ......)     <somename>erp

in a specific folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc in this we find hosts file, there they have to add above line( with administrator credentials ).

I hope it will help you.

Thanks

Venkat

Are you able to run any serivce from SICF.

there will be many demo applications already present in the system.

in SICF under the web dynpro node, there will be some services, right click and go to test

and see whether they are opening or there also you are facing the same problem.

thanks

Sounds like either your Hostname or port specfication in the instance profile is not correct for this SAP system or perhaps HTTP is not even configured. I think you should speak with your Basis team, as it seems that the system configuration isn't complete/correct. Not really a Web Dynpro question per say.

hi thomas,

As of now our basis consultant is not available. And We double check the hostname and port specification in instance profile, those are correct.

And about HTTP settings, I configured http settings in ICM (http and smtp ),

Any more settings i have to do?

>And We double check the hostname and port specification in instance profile, those are correct.

And you confirmed with the Network admins that they are asigned and unblocked? A ping will only check the resolution of the hostname - not that the port is open.

> I configured http settings in ICM (http and smtp ),

So from transaction SMICM you can see a setting for HTTP? Did you just create this? If so, have you restarted the ICM?

This really isn't a question for the Web Dynpro ABAP forum. These are general system configuration questions and as such should be posted in the appropriate forum. They should also be carried out by your Basis Admins. Perhaps you should wait until your Basis admin is available again.

thomas,

ping is happening successfully, and http settings done through ICM only, and it restarted.

Still the same happening.

Hi Sanasrinivas,

facing exactly the same problem. Where have you done the port assignment?

ICM Monitor =>HTTP=>EDIT => set port number?

Kind Regards,

Christoph

Hi Christoph,

Ask your basis people or IT people to release the ports,if ports are blocked then these kind of issues will occur. And before that just go through the links which i have used in this thread.
